Persson also faced such a problem, which is caused by a side effect of changing the algorithm: if the character goes a very long distance from the center of the map to its edge, then lags will start, and the map itself will be too deformed. Persson called this gaming area Far Lands, and he liked the idea of ​​the mystical lands, which can hardly be achieved without cheat codes. Later, the worlds appeared borders that look like transparent walls with blue lines. On June 28, the first large-scale Alpha update was released, and on July 22 of that year, a test multi-user mode appeared, which could be entered through an invitation.

From June 18 to September 18, Persson released Secret Updates on Fridays. These updates significantly filled the gameplay with content – items like redstone, trolleys, treasures and a new dimension appeared in Minecraft. On the last day of the secret update, Persson wrote on his blog that he would add the Hell dimension to the game; this measurement can be used for a quick trip, if you go any distance there and return to the ordinary world.
