Announced Village and Pillage update for Minecraft

At the Minecon Earth 2018 event, Mojang talked about the next major Minecraft update, which will be called Village and Pillage. With him, an unfriendly faction of looters will appear in the game, who with their tamed wild beasts will attack.

Since June 13, the alpha version of the game has become paid – Persson believed that he could not support the development at the same pace if he did not take money for the game. Despite the fact that the browser version of the game, called Minecraft Classic, remained free, Persson stopped updating it – now only those users who have registered an account on the official website and bought a special client for the game could receive updates. Updates included new content: blocks, creatures, survival mode and changes in the behavior of objects. Persson used the name Mojang Specifications as a game development studio, although at that time he worked on development alone.

In September, Persson visited the office of Valve, an American company, where he took part in a programming training and met with CEO Gabe Newell. Persson was offered a job at Valve, but he refused. Instead, Persson decided to turn Mojang Specifications into a full-fledged company: he contacted his friend Jacob Porser via Skype and they registered the joint-stock company (Aktiebolag) Mojang AB. The starting capital of Mojang was the money earned by Persson from the sale of copies of Minecraft.
